Renting a car

If you plan on staying a few days in Athens to visit, you are more than welcome to rent a car once you arrive at the airport, that way you can drive to your hotel with ease. The major renting companies are Hertz and Avis. Friendly reminder: In Greece, they drive from the left and if you are planning on staying near the centre, driving and parking might be challenging. Ask your hotel in advance if they provide private parking.

Taxis

The easiest and least stress-free experience is hiring a taxi once you arrive at the airport. You can either catch a taxi outside of the airport and just let them know your destination, or you can pre – book your taxi with Welcome Pickups before arriving to Greece. If you choose the latter, the driver will wait for you with your name and you are still paying the normal car fair. For the rest of your stay in Greece, your hotel's reception can always hail a cab for you or use Uber if you are somewhere else.
